Power
India is endowed with
abundant natural resources
that are suitable for energy
generation. These natural
water resources are trapped
in the form of natural
springs, waterfalls and
perennial streams. Despite
this, these resources are
not tapped to provide
electricity as demand.
In recent years, Energy
Projects have been developed
to meet power demand in
remote areas and have been
able to achieve greater
attention from investors due
to moderate investment
coupled with low level of
operational requirements.
The hydro projects are clean
projects with regard to
energy generation. Hilly
states, especially
Uttarakhand have vast
potential for these
projects. The terrain,
cultural diversity and
resources within the State
make it necessary to evolve
a variety of options through
participatory planning and
implementation to meet the
energy needs of the
populace.
U-DeC has successfully
completed the following
projects in power sector:
-
Commenced Bid Process
Management for
Development of small
hydel plants under PPP (BOT)

-
Prepared suitable policy
frameworks for the power
sector in Uttarakhand
-
Set up Project
Management Unit for
facilitating funding
assistance from Asian
Development Bank for
state power sector
improvement program.
